The team of Karwan-e-Ilm Foundation (KIF), a leading scholar support organization in Pakistan, visited UET Mardan on Monday, September 18, 2023. Dr. Muhammad Usman, Registrar of UET Mardan, welcomed Mr. Khalid Irshad Soofi, Executive Director of Karwan-e-Ilm Foundation, and his visiting team on behalf of Prof. Dr. Imran Khan, Vice Chancellor of UET Mardan. The Registrar formally introduced the visiting team to the Advisor for Student Affairs, Engr. Imran Maqsood, and to the Departmental Scholarship Committee Member and Focal person of Karwan-e-Ilm Foundation, Dr. Jawad Ali.

The Executive Director of KIF appreciated the university for spreading technical knowledge at a low cost among the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He added that KIF has been prioritizing support for the Engineering sector since 2003. Mr. Khalid Irshad Soofi shared success stories of students who were previously beneficiaries of the foundation and now serve as respected professionals while also contributing to the foundation as major donors.

Later, the media personnel from KIF conducted interviews with the Registrar, recording his views regarding the institute's improvement in student support and skill development through collaboration between KIF and UET Mardan. The team also interviewed current KIF beneficiaries who receive tuition and hostel fee support from the foundation. Additionally, the foundation briefly interviewed certain new applicants in the Vice Chancellor’s office.

After visiting various departments and their labs, including the Computer Science Department, Electrical Engineering Department, and Mechanical and Civil Engineering Department, the Executive Director of KIF suggested that the university could offer short courses to the local community using its computer lab facilities. These courses could enhance the skills of local youth and empower them to secure jobs.

The visit concluded with the signing of an MoU between UET Mardan and Karwan-e-Ilm Foundation, followed by a photo session. UET Mardan wishes the foundation good luck in its social services and commendable efforts to support young students in Pakistan.
